The Myth of Peer Pressure

Abstract: An 8 page paper discussing peer pressure, the great scapegoat for many of the poor choices that teens can make today. There are more areas in which teens can make choices than at any other time, and those teens without the unyielding support of a close family frequently are on their own in making decisions for themselves. Peer groups can have influence, but only by the acquiescence of the individual. "Peer pressure" has become a euphemism for discounting personal responsibility, but it has no effect in minimizing that personal responsibility. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
