Female Film Directors; The Gender Difference

Abstract: This 9 page paper examines the position of female directors. The paper argues that today, just as in the past, the only way in which a woman can succeed as a director is to compromise her views in order to comply with male expectations, or find a back door into the industry. This is considered from the first female director Alice Guy Blache up to the modern day. This trend is also seen as a global phenomena and not limited to only the western world. The bibliography cites 5 sources.
