Counseling HIV/AIDS Clients

Abstract: The counselor working with HIV/AIDS clients may come into conflict concerning their own feelings toward the client and their personal attitudes, values and beliefs towards sex, harm, self harm, death and dying and the professional need to distance themselves on a moral ground from the actions of the individual. This 6 page paper provides an overview of the problem, focusing on utilizing the professional tools of empathy, unconditional positive regard and non-judgmental interaction.
